Keeping to a healthy diet is hard for the best of us. Don’t despair or become depressed. It is important you remember that it is not about your intelligence or metal capacity, it is sheer will power. Many times a day our body will think it needs sugars or fats when in fact your body is really craving something nourishing that will improve your mood. A healthy diet has been proven in many studies to improve your mood and outlook on life.

So my suggestion next time you have a great craving for something unhealthy, remember that a healthy diet will actually make you not just healthier but happier.

So we are all human beings. Sometimes even though we try our hardest, we can over indulge. That one slice of pizza can become 4 slices, that few scoops of ice cream can become the whole tub........

What what can you do about it?

Here's my suggestion. The most important thing to do is to remember that you are a human being. There are many factors in our lives that influence us to over eat.

I highly suggest find out why you ate so much. Was it a lapse in self control brought on by a tough day at work, a failing relationship, stress from your family etc. Try to solve the cause and the rest will fall into place.

Do not depair. We all have momentary lapses in our healthy eating diet. I suggest we dont let them affect the good days and always know im here for you.

Most people dont realize how important protein is in your diet.

Alot of essential muscle building nutrients are gained through our consumption of proteins.

I suggest a good mix of legumes (beans), nuts and lean meats.

Meats such a lean turkey (no skin), lean chicken breast (no skin), lamb, beef and veal are all great sources of protein and a healthy addition (in moderation) to your daily diet.

Eat your proteins people, its not just healthy, your body needs them daily and dont forget VARIETY!

Carbohydrates are a good way to get energy for your day and of course a yummy alternative for meals and side dishes or meal accompaniments.

I suggest that you never eat carbs after 6pm (or at least 4 hours if not more before you go to sleep). This gives your body time to digest and burn some of the carbohydrates, and ensure not much goes to your fat stores.

Please remember that your body needs carbohydrateslike brown rice, pasta, and whole wheat bread for energy...... just eact them in moderation

Ok 'healthster's'.

Here's a suggestion. Try replacing meat in your diet for around 9 days. You will definitely feel healthier and the variety of foods that you can replace the protein rich meat with should help expand your dietary palate and cooking abilities.

Try different types of fish either baked or grilled. Nuts and Lentils are amazing and healthy natural sources of protein. Lastly ensure you have a good variety of eggs and dairy in your diet.

Feel free to comment here and tell me how this went for you and what you gained from the experience.

Alot of women approach me proffesionally and ask me: "Jane, how can i lose weight quickly?". They should really be asking: "Jane, what are healthy eating habbits".

I would like to start off my nutritian and diet tips blog with one simple message.

Dont diet for the sake of losing unhealthy amounts of weights or with weight loss as your only goal, lets all focus on living and eating healthier and integrating that healthy eating diet in to a healthy fitness lifestyle.
